Jocelyn Mushala Author Biography, This compilation is a collaboration of some of our inner most secrets, emotions and experiences, which were expressed through poetry during the Global War on Terrorism. I made a promise to myself and my “battle buddies” to share our moments in war, so that others can embrace what their friends and loved ones experiences. The mix of sadness, hysteria, laughter, anger, fear, aggravation and loneliness was unleashed on paper and became a focal point for those involved. A native of Tanzania, East Africa I was born of a Tanzanian father and a Ugandan mother, and I currently reside in Washington, D.C. with my daughter Kelanji (13 yrs). After receiving my undergraduate degree in Health & Physical Education from Howard University, I taught in D.C. Public Schools for nine years. Recently, I retired from the U.S. Army Reserve after 23 years of service and I am constantly reminded that service member continue to struggle as a result of the Global War on Terrorism.
